Members Chairman, Lyn Pesek James Newsome Lewis Thigpen Fred Blount Sr. Vacant The City of Warrenton’s Planning and Zoning Commission plays a vital role in guiding the city’s growth and development. The commission is made up of five members, appointed by the Mayor and City Council, who are all city residents and qualified electors. Members serve staggered four-year terms and meet regularly throughout the year.
Key responsibilities include:
The commission organizes itself annually, electing a chair and vice-chair, and follows its own rules of procedure in accordance with state law. Meetings are open to the public, and members serve without compensation. In addition, Warrenton participates in the Central Savannah River Area Regional Commission, which brings together representatives from surrounding counties to coordinate long-range planning and development for the entire region. Together, these efforts help ensure that Warrenton’s development is orderly, balanced, and in the best interest of public health, safety, and overall community well-being. |
