Parks & Recreation

The Recreation Department is responsible for providing and coordinating recreational opportunities and maintaining city parks and facilities for the benefit of Warrenton’s residents. Established under the City Code of Ordinances (Code 1976, §§ 3-140—3-141), the department works to ensure that community activities and public spaces remain safe, enjoyable, and accessible.

In Warrenton, the duties of the Recreation Department and its Director include:

• Scheduling and supervising all recreational activities offered by the City.
• Preparing monthly reports on departmental activities for the Mayor and Council.
• Coordinating transportation needs related to recreation programs.
• Overseeing the operation of city parks and recommending improvements when necessary.
