Office of the MayorAs defined in the City Charter, the Mayor of Warrenton serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City. In this role, the Mayor exercises all executive and administrative powers granted by the Constitution and laws of the State of Georgia, as well as those contained in Warrenton’s Charter.
Term and Qualifications
The Mayor is elected to serve a four-year term and must be a qualified elector of the City of Warrenton. In addition, the Mayor must meet the qualifications required of members of the Georgia House of Representatives, and must have resided within the City of Warrenton for at least one year prior to election. The Mayor must continue to reside in the city throughout their term of office. Powers and Duties

The Mayor also serves as an ex officio member of all standing and special committees of Council, may call special meetings of the Council, and is authorized to bind the City by signing contracts, obligations, and other official documents approved by ordinance or resolution.

Beyond these duties, the Mayor of Warrenton is a visible leader, working closely with Council, city staff, and residents to preserve Warrenton’s heritage, support its growth, and ensure that city government is responsive, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves. |
