Discover Warrenton: Heritage, Hospitality, and Home

Nestled in the heart of east-central Georgia, Warrenton is more than just a county seat — it is a community where history, charm, and progress meet. Established in 1810 and listed on the National Register of Historic Districts, our city is a living museum of southern heritage. Strolling through downtown, visitors encounter a landscape of lovingly preserved storefronts, historic homes along Main Street, and a town square filled with antique shops, specialty boutiques, and family-owned restaurants.

Warrenton is also a city of celebration. Each fall, thousands gather for the Annual Sportsman’s Festival, a tradition that showcases our region’s culture, food, music, and hospitality. Throughout the year, other special events bring our community together — from parades and holiday gatherings to local arts and cultural festivals that highlight the talent and spirit of our people.

Beyond the city center, Warren County’s history runs deep. Visitors can explore historic homes and landmarks that tell the story of our county’s role in Georgia’s development. The East Warrenton Depot, home to the Warren County Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center, invites travelers to step back in time. Inside, the Museum of Cultural History preserves artifacts and exhibits that reveal the everyday lives and extraordinary moments that shaped our community. Just next door, the Knox Theater is undergoing restoration, promising to once again serve as a beacon for the arts and entertainment in downtown Warrenton.

Today, Warrenton balances its historic character with a vision for the future. Our residents are proud of their heritage, committed to building a thriving economy, and dedicated to creating a welcoming place for families, visitors, and businesses alike. Whether you come to shop, dine, explore, or call Warrenton home, you’ll find a community rooted in tradition and inspired by possibility.
